The ideal candidate will have a strong background in removal defense, complex immigration matters, family immigration, asylum, and related areas. Job Details:

  • Provide legal representation in removal defense cases, handling complex immigration matters such as fraud, criminal history, unlawful entries, waivers, orders of removal, etc.
  • Assist clients with family immigration petitions, including adjustment of status, consular processing, and petitions for relatives.
  • Prepare and submit asylum applications, conducting thorough assessments of eligibility and representing clients in asylum proceedings.
  • File mandamus petitions to compel the government to take action on delayed immigration applications or petitions.
  • Handle Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) cases, advocating for immigrant children who have been abused, abandoned, or neglected.
  • Conduct legal research, draft legal documents, and provide strategic advice to clients on immigration matters.

 

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law in New York State is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in immigration law, with a focus on removal defense, complex immigration matters, family immigration, asylum, mandamus, and SIJS.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of immigration laws, regulations, and procedures.
  • Strong communication and advocacy skills, with the ability to represent clients effectively in court proceedings and administrative hearings.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

 

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar.

 

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and develop effective legal strategies.
  • Fluency in a second language, particularly Spanish, is a plus.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
