Bilfinger North America Inc., a subsidiary of the Bilfinger group, is currently seeking a Legal Counsel to join their team. This role will report directly to the Vice President Legal and will focus on managing disputes, litigation, and claims arising from the company's operations, as well as drafting and negotiating construction-related contracts and change orders. The company offers a diverse portfolio of services, including consulting, engineering, manufacturing, assembly, maintenance, and turnarounds, and is known for its culture of performance excellence and commitment to building strong partnerships with clients.

Qualifications and Experience:
- . degree from an ABA-approved law school and active membership in good standing of a United States jurisdiction
- Ability to obtain licensure in Texas within six (6) months of hire, if not already licensed in Texas
- 5+ years of experience in resolving disputes in the construction industry, with some experience in litigation or arbitration preferred
- Knowledge of construction and engineering agreements, with maritime/offshore experience desired
- Familiarity with ESI systems and software for efficient review of documents in construction litigation
- Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to deliver sound and timely legal advice and adapt to a fast-paced work environment
- Integrity consistent with Bilfinger's core values and ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software

Responsibilities:
- Manage disputes, litigation, and claims for Bilfinger North America Inc. and its subsidiaries arising from projects and operations
- Provide legal advice and guidance to the operations team for ongoing projects
- Advise on issues related to the company's rights, obligations, and privileges
- Offer legal counsel to the Human Resources Department on labor and employment issues
- Review and edit construction agreements in industrial and commercial markets
- Conduct research on applicable laws for the jurisdiction of project work
- Participate in final negotiations of agreements with clients alongside the operations team
- Manage external counsel, consultants, and internal teams involved in dispute resolution, ensuring value and results for legal expenditures
- Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures for dispute resolution, contracting, and claims
- Develop training programs and procedures to minimize and resolve disputes efficiently, preserving important company relationships with clients and subcontractors
- Assist in resolving business or technical issues by identifying legal solutions and recommending a course of action
- Coordinate with insurers for coverage on insured matters
- Collaborate with internal subject matter experts for review and negotiation efforts
- Report to and consult with the Vice President Legal on material issues and take on additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Options for Work Location:
- Remote work from home office with occasional travel to the Houston office and for training and dispute resolution
- If local to the Houston or DC Metro area, work from one of the office locations with necessary travel for training and dispute resolution
