Lawyers Network, Summer 2024 Summer Legal Associate in Washington, DC or New York City, New York The Lawyers Network is seeking a Summer Legal Associate to join their team in the . Programs department at the Center for Reproductive Rights. This is a full-time position for 10 weeks from June 2024 to August 2024. Organization Background: The Center for Reproductive Rights is a global human rights organization dedicated to protecting reproductive rights as fundamental human rights. With offices in New York City, New York; Nairobi, Kenya; Bogota, Colombia; Geneva, Switzerland; and Washington, ., the Center works to change laws and policies around the world through litigation, legal policy, and advocacy. Their team of 230+ diverse professionals is committed to advancing the Center’s mission and has a track record of success in transforming how reproductive rights are understood and applied. Impact: The Center’s Strategic Plan aims to have half of the world’s population living under stronger protections for reproductive rights by 2030. They have won groundbreaking cases before national courts, . Committees, and regional human rights bodies and have also led the development of proactive legislation to advance reproductive rights. Additionally, the Center has built the legal capacity of women’s rights advocates in over 65 countries. Role: The Lawyers Network team works to build knowledge and support for reproductive rights through programming, advocacy, and cultivating new allies. They are seeking a legal intern with a strong commitment to reproductive rights and reproductive justice to assist with various projects related to their work. This internship will provide valuable experience in a dynamic public interest law organization, including legal research and writing. Primary Responsibilities: • Conduct legal, factual, and other research and analysis for and global initiatives • Draft legal education and advocacy materials in collaboration with the Lawyers Network team • Assist with drafting, researching, and reviewing bar association resolutions, reports, and other publications Qualifications: • Completed at least one year of law school by June 2024 • Strong legal research and writing skills • Demonstrated interest in public interest, human rights, gender justice, reproductive rights, and/or reproductive justice Behavioral Competencies: • Develop and manage self and others • Collaboration and teamwork • Actively seek and give feedback • Accountability and follow-through Work Competencies: • Project management skills • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities • Internal and external focus • Strong communication and influencing skills Compensation: The Center will supplement external funding to bring all Associates to a pay rate of $7,000 for the ten-week program.
