This unique role offers the opportunity to use tax and accounting skills in a consultative capacity, with a focus on unclaimed property compliance and consulting. The chosen candidate will work closely with leadership to provide expertise to clients and assist in advising them on tax implications and other related matters. Job Summary: The SALT Senior Associate, Unclaimed Property, will be responsible for project management, presentations to clients and states, coordinating compliance, audit defense and VDAs, and other consulting engagements. They will also work with the Core Tax and Audit Partners, Directors, and Senior Managers to provide SALT expertise to clients. This role also involves staying informed on the latest unclaimed property statutory, regulatory, and case law changes. Key Responsibilities: - Research complex situations and conduct thorough research using appropriate sources - Develop relationships with relevant state authorities - Keep up-to-date on unclaimed property laws and regulations - Gather and manipulate data from clients for preparation of annual escheat returns - Use software for data gathering, importing, and preparation of returns - Identify exemptions and perform reconciliations on data - Respond to notices from state authorities and assist with due diligence letter processing and client payment processing - Provide assistance with exam support and communicate regularly with clients and UP team members - Draft memorandums and opinions on escheat issues - Participate in developing escheat planning processes and procedures - Represent clients in unclaimed property audits and voluntary disclosures - Identify gift card planning opportunities and assist with implementation - Compile and organize relevant data for escheat items - Prepare and review analysis of sporadic data into Unclaimed Property templates - Assist clients with remediation procedures and develop exposure quantification models - Assist with client refund review process - Apply relevant state tax consulting sub-specialties and confer with other STS professionals - Ensure engagement letters are adopted and manage engagements - Assist UP leadership with consultative selling strategies - Actively involved in relevant trade organizations and public speaking events - Update CRM entries regularly - Manage client expectations and work with UP leadership to project manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously - Utilize relevant software for assigned tasks - Maintain working knowledge of various GL systems - Participate in learning and executing technology enhancements for unclaimed property group - Other duties as required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Economics or Finance - 2+ years of experience in tax, financial statement auditing or forensic accounting in a public accounting firm or in-house organization - CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) preferred - Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word - Experience with Power BI, Alteryx, and other software preferred Skills and Abilities: - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Superior analytical and research skills - Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines - Ability to work independently or in a team environment - Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment - Ability to manage a team and delegate work assignments - Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and client personnel - Executive presence and ability to act as primary ,000 per year.
