As an Elder Law Attorney, you will have the opportunity to provide free and reduced-cost civil legal services to older New Mexicans, with a focus on housing, health care, benefits, economic security, and autonomy-protecting mechanisms. Position Overview:

- SCLO is seeking a full-time staff attorney with a passion for elder law to join our team in Albuquerque, NM.
- The attorney will focus on providing legal representation and services to seniors aged 60 and older, primarily in Central New Mexico.
- The position is full-time with a 36-hour workweek, and will involve a broad range of legal services from brief services to full representation.
- The attorney will also conduct community education and outreach activities, including educational presentations and legal clinics.
- SCLO attorneys are highly collaborative and supportive of each other, with regular meetings to discuss complex cases and share resources.
- The ideal candidate will have a desire to work in public interest and poverty law, and be patient and sensitive to seniors.
- SCLO offers a generous employment plan, including 100% of health and dental premium for the employee, paid vacation and sick leave, and a matching 403(b) pension.
- Salary is dependent on experience.

Responsibilities:

- Provide legal representation and services to seniors aged 60 and older, primarily in Central New Mexico.
- Conduct community education and outreach activities, including educational presentations and legal clinics.
- Attend regular attorney meetings to discuss complex cases and share resources.
- Build collaborative relationships with SCLO staff, partner legal services agencies, and the community.
- Manage a caseload and maintain excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in Spanish is a plus, but not a requirement.

Requirements:

- Graduate of accredited law school.
- Licensed New Mexico Bar member or licensed in another state and eligible to waive into the New Mexico Bar (See NMRA , or 15-107).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to manage a caseload and build collaborative relationships.
- Proficiency in Spanish is a plus, but not a requirement.
