A law firm in Indianapolis is seeking a skilled Worker's Compensation Attorney with at least 2 years of experience representing employers in worker's compensation matters. The successful candidate will play a key role in advocating for the interests of the employer in various legal proceedings and will have the opportunity for remote work two days per week.

 

Job Overview:

The Worker's Compensation Attorney will be responsible for representing employers in hearings, trials, depositions, oral arguments, mediations, arbitrations, and other legal proceedings. They will work closely with claims professionals, prepare legal pleadings and documents, conduct discovery, negotiate settlements, and contribute to the investigation of accidents and problem areas. The role offers opportunities for career advancement in a collaborative and collegial environment, with training provided at growing levels of responsibility.

 

Duties:

  • Represent the employer's interests at hearings, trials, depositions, oral arguments, mediations, arbitrations, and other legal proceedings.
  • Work directly with claims professionals, providing legal analysis and advice.
  • Prepare and file legal pleadings and documents.
  • Conduct discovery, including gathering and reviewing medical evidence and records and taking depositions of claimants, doctors, medical experts, and others.
  • Assisted in the investigation of accidents and compile and submitted required reports.
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of the client.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining client relationships.
  • Have opportunities for advancement in a collegial environment.
  • Receive training opportunities with growing levels of responsibility.
  • Collaborate with talented and team-oriented attorneys across practice groups and offices.
  • Work remotely two days per week.

 

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience handling worker’s compensation matters on behalf of employers.
  • Knowledge of the worker’s compensation system in Indiana.
  • Experience defending clients against worker’s compensation claims.
  • Ability to investigate workers' compensation claims and advise clients on reducing liability and workers' compensation costs.
  • Keen interest in developing and implementing relationship-building skills.
  • Prior experience preparing candidates to work with diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent law school credentials and references.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
