Director, Privacy & Data Protection

Job Description:

BDO is seeking a Director to join our thriving Privacy & Data Protection (PDP) Practice as a data protection and privacy expert and engagement leader. This exciting position offers the opportunity to work with both domestic and international clients and professionals.

Job Duties:

Develop and deliver global data protection and privacy strategies
Build cross-cultural functionality for clients' global privacy programs
Manage BDO team members and collaborate with Member Firms and offshore team members
Provide detailed information on domestic and global privacy laws
Guide and advise team members on project budget and scheduling
Establish new relationships to drive new opportunities for BDO
Comply with BDO's quality, risk management, and data protection frameworks
Maintain relationships with clients and introduce other BDO professionals
Manage day-to-day project requirements and team members
Ensure timely and thoughtful responses to client inquiries
Build relationships with other BDO professionals and participate in industry events
Provide quality services to corporate clients
Update customer relationship management for pipeline reporting
Review client reports and provide feedback to team members
Develop proposals and respond to RFPs/RFIs
Utilize knowledge of client needs to develop project plans and provide regular updates
Participate in business unit, legal, IT, privacy, and governance meetings
Proofread and edit executive reports
Manage client and partner expectations at all levels
Mentor team members and ensure consistent work product and BDO standards
Manage multiple large and complex engagements
Act as a leader and maintain a positive attitude towards clients and firm personnel
Manage a team of professionals
Other duties as required

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Train team members on relevant software and processes
Evaluate and provide feedback to team members
Act as a mentor

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required, Master's or JD/MBA preferred
10+ years of consulting experience required
3+ years of data protection or privacy experience required
Experience working with Fortune 500 clients preferred
5+ years of experience managing large, complex privacy projects required
One or more privacy certifications required
Experience with privacy-enabled technology solutions preferred
Knowledge of privacy and GRC software preferred
Multilingual capabilities preferred
Executive presence and ability to up-sell
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Strong analytical and research skills
Organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
Ability to multi-task and work independently or within a team
Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and interact with people at all levels
Ability to build and maintain relationships
