#Assistant Attorney General - Criminal Enforcement - Special Prosecutions The Office of the Illinois Attorney General is looking for a motivated and experienced attorney to join their Special Prosecutions Bureau in the Revenue Prosecution Unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for prosecuting criminal violations of Illinois tax laws, working with special agents from the Department of Revenue, and providing legal assistance to other law enforcement agencies. ##Responsibilities As an Assistant Attorney General, the successful candidate will: * Prosecute tax evasion and other criminal violations of Illinois revenue statutes * First chair jury and bench trials in circuit courts throughout the state * Review law enforcement case referrals and make felony charging recommendations * Conduct comprehensive grand jury investigations alongside CID special agents * Present evidence to establish probable cause for indictment or information * Litigate pre-trial discovery issues, evidentiary hearings, and post-trial motions * Prepare complaints for search warrants, overhear orders, and property seizures * Research legislation and judicial opinions related to Illinois criminal laws * Provide legal assistance as needed to other law enforcement agencies and local State’s Attorney’s Offices on tax related investigations and prosecutions ##Qualifications Applicants must be licensed to practice law in Illinois and must have at least 2-5 years of civil or criminal litigation experience, or a demonstrated interest in public service. Ideal candidates will have strong legal research & writing skills and a specific interest in white-collar crime. ##Salary Salaries are commensurate with the number of years of practice as a licensed attorney and start at $76,008. This position will be paid from funds appropriated to the Illinois Department of Revenue.
