As a State and Local Tax Manager, you will be responsible for managing client engagements and overseeing state and local tax planning and consulting projects for a variety of clients ranging from middle market to Fortune 500 companies. You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining client relationships, managing teams, and providing technical expertise in a variety of state and local tax areas. Responsibilities: • Managing and reviewing state and local tax compliance and consulting engagements, including reviewing workpapers, tax returns, and other deliverables • Developing and maintaining client relationships and managing client expectations • Providing technical expertise on state and local tax matters, including income and franchise tax planning, compliance, audit defense, and restructuring • Supervising and coaching team members on engagements • Identifying and addressing client needs, including recommending solutions and communicating state and local tax developments • Keeping up-to-date on state and local tax laws and regulations • Assisting with business development initiatives and proposals Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required • Minimum of 4 years of experience in state and local tax, preferably in a professional services firm • CPA certification, Member of the Bar, or other tax, technology, or finance-specific credentials preferred • Master's degree in Taxation or Political Science preferred • Thorough knowledge of state and local tax laws, including multi-state income tax planning, compliance, and audit defense • Strong technical skills, including FAS 109, unitary filing, apportionment methodologies, tax base rules, tax research, and compliance • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment • Willingness to travel up to 20% for client engagements Salary Information: The average salary for a State and Local Tax Manager at PwC is $115,000 per year.
