LawCrossing Reports Continued Growth in Law Firm Jobs and In-House Positions Across the U.S. in July 2007
July 01, 2007
Pasadena, Calif. — Employment in the legal sector enjoyed strong grow throughout the Spring, as the number of in-house positions and law firm jobs increased steadily across most of the country, as indicated in the latest report by LawCrossing, the world's largest legal career placement website.

The most recent figures gathered by LawCrossing show that the private legal sector is continuing to experience strong growth in 2007. Law firms from every region of the country had an increase in the number of jobs in May. This marks an increase in law firm jobs compared to the previous months. The Northeast region of the U.S. had the largest growth. There was also an increase in the number of law firm positions available in the South and in the West.

According to LawCrossing, the number of in-house positions rose steadily last month. With the exception of the West, which had a small decrease in positions, every region in the U.S. increased the number of available in-house jobs over the Spring. The Southwest had the largest increase in available in-house jobs. May's overall growth is a significant improvement from the sharp decrease shown in April.

LawCrossing also reports that despite the decline in the total number of public sector positions offered in May and June, the South, West, Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast regions of the U.S. all showed increases in the number of available government jobs. The Mid-Atlantic had the highest increase.

Other numbers compiled by LawCrossing show growth in legal staff positions, including paralegals and technical specialists. Legal staff jobs in accounting and human resources showed no change, while the number of positions for legal secretaries declined a bit from May to June.

"We are extremely pleased with the increase in private sector legal jobs, especially the continued growth in the number of positions at law firms. Although the total number of government jobs declined last month, we're encouraged by the increase shown in several major regions in the U.S. Undoubtedly, LawCrossing will increase its efforts to find more positions for all sectors and areas across the country," states Harrison Barnes, CEO of LawCrossing.
