LawCrossing lists over 20,000 jobs for law grads even when finding law jobs seems difficult

Pasadena, CA, October 5, 2011 —The law school career services departments are now concentrating on alternative or nontraditional careers on their websites. University of Texas alumni has a Non-Practicing Advisory Council within its alumni association. This is because many grads of Austin's School of Law are cartoonists, service dog trainers, and wind farm employees. As per the Yale Law School's “Lawyers in Business” guide, 10 percent of alumni typically work in a business setting five years after graduation and the young associates earn annual salaries of $ 100,000 - $ 300,000 in management, consulting, investment banking, and venture capital. The NALP report shows that only 68.4 percent of 2010 grads were able to fetch jobs requiring bar passage. It can only be assumed that this is the effects of the employment rates on law school career services offices. Due to the increasing demand of the legal profession and entry-level hiring competition, most law students are forced to consider other alternatives. Drake University's School of Law website states that 16 percent of the school's alumni work in business fields nine months after graduation, and the Boston University School of Law website states that 17 percent of its 2009 graduates began their careers in academia and while 6 percent worked in business. Albany law firm alumnus hires one to four Albany graduates each year for his large financial services firm, and currently 68 alumni work there.
