An internship is a great way for law students to develop skills. A bit of advice I'd give, is to try to take advantage of that. Try to help the interns learn more about law, and that way they could be able to help out more in the firm. It would have been nice if I could have a say in certain things rather than just pushing paper.
Ferree, Bunn, Rundberg, Radom & Ridgway Chtd. hired me while I was still in law school. They gave me an internship where I could learn the ins and outs of law. The firm specializes in divorces. I learned a lot about how to go about divorce proceedings. I learned about how divorce courts are. I learned a lot about how judges behave in divorce court proceedings as well.
There is no room for advancement within the firm. I was an intern, and didn't really have a chance to prove myself. I did a lot of paper pushing and that's about it. I learned a bit, but I didn't really have a chance to utilize these things I learned within the firm itself. However, I know I'd be able to use this experience as I move elsewhere in my career. Another thing is that I only really learned about divorce proceedings at this firm. I never really had an opportunity to learn about other aspects of law.
Thank you.
