Job Title: Estates Attorney I

Job Overview: A law firm in University Place, WA, is seeking an Estates Attorney I with strong legal research, writing, and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school and 3+ years of experience as an attorney. Admission to the WA Bar (or eligibility for reciprocal admission) is required. Mediation experience is highly preferred, and trial experience is also desirable. The role involves researching complex legal issues, drafting legal documents, marketing firm services, managing client communications, and participating in brand expansion activities.

Duties:

  • Researching and analyzing the law on complex legal issues.
  • Writing memorandums, briefs, letters, and other legal documents.
  • Marketing your and the firm’s services to prospective clients.
  • Performing discovery of various electronically stored data and hard copies of information in preparation for litigation.
  • Performing due diligence in legal matters concerning contracts, agreements, mergers, and acquisitions.
  • Communicating and advising clients.
  • Managing a schedule to allow for consults and closure of consults to sufficiently reach production/collection objectives. Depending on the practice area, this may include outside core hours and weekend consults.
  • Closing consults are within the firm's 30-50% range, depending on the practice area.
  • Timely approval of invoices is critical to the business's health on a month-to-month basis on a monthly cycle. Failure to do so regularly may result in disciplinary and timely financial.
  • Ensure support staff are fully utilized and productive.
  • Accurately and completely update CC with fees, engagement, trust, client information, invoices, etc., as required.
  • If over-subscribed, share work tasks with other attorneys and support staff to ensure the firm meets the objective of serving communities.
  • Actively engage in brand (personal and firm) expansion through blogs, social media posts, board and organization participation, etc.
  • Actively seek positive comments from successful client engagements and positive star reviews.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Excellent writing and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent legal research skills.
  • Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association-accredited law school.
  • Admission (or eligibility for reciprocal admission) to the WA Bar.
  • 3+ years of experience as an attorney.
