Introduction

The Department of Justice's Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is seeking a highly qualified attorney with forensic science experience to join its Office of the General Counsel (OGC). The Forensic Science Law Unit (FSLU) provides legal advice and guidance to the FBI's Laboratory Division (LD) on a diverse range of issues. Responsibilities

As an Attorney in the Forensic Science Law Unit, you will be responsible for providing legal advice and support to the FBI's Laboratory Division. This includes assisting LD personnel in activities related to pre-trial and post-trial proceedings, providing real-time guidance on operational and investigative issues, identifying and addressing gaps in legislation impacting forensic science disciplines, and representing the FBI OGC and LD during interactions with other agencies and the . - Assisting LD personnel in legal proceedings, including interacting with prosecutors and representing LD employees in depositions.
- Providing real-time legal guidance and support on operational and investigative issues.
- Identifying and addressing legislation gaps related to forensic science disciplines.

- Conducting training for LD examiners on legal issues and conducting moot court exercises.

Qualifications

To be eligible for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

- Must be a . citizen.
- Must be able to obtain a Top-Secret/SCI clearance.
- Must have a law degree from an accredited American Bar Association law school.
- Must be an active member in good standing with any . jurisdiction bar association.
- Must have demonstrated experience as a criminal prosecutor, defense attorney, or civil litigator.
- Must have superior legal and factual analysis skills.
- Must have excellent legal research, writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Must have experience developing and implementing legal policies and proposals.
- Must have experience teaching or training others.

Education

Applicants must possess a . degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association and be an active member of a . jurisdiction bar association.
