Deloitte is hiring a Tax Senior to join their Business Tax Services (“BTS”) practice, providing tax services to clients across more than 150 countries and regions worldwide. This role specifically focuses on renewable energy clients and projects, such as wind, solar, battery storage, geothermal, biomass, and fuel cell projects. Job Title: Tax Senior - Sustainability, Climate & Equity - Renewable Energy
Experience: 3+ years
Location: Multiple locations available (60 locations)
Salary: $63,420 - $144,300 (may vary based on factors such as experience, certifications, and location)

Position Summary:

The Tax Senior will be responsible for advising clients on tax issues related to renewable energy clients and projects. This role requires collaboration with colleagues across all member firms – Tax, Advisory, Consulting, and Audit and Assurance. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in renewable energy and sustainability, as well as the willingness to learn and retool in this industry. They will also be invested in the team’s success and have strong leadership skills to facilitate workstreams and identify process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

- Support renewable energy client engagements and target new clients
- Advise clients on tax issues related to renewable energy projects, such as Investment Tax Credits, Production Tax Credits, Carbon Capture Tax Credits, and Clean Hydrogen Tax Credits
- Prepare tax returns and provide advisory services related to renewable energy tax equity structures, such as Partnership Flip, Sale-Leaseback, and Pass-Through Lease
- Develop and maintain strong internal and client relationships
- Monitor and stay informed on current and proposed tax legislation and regulations related to renewable energy and sustainability
- Collaborate with member firms to execute workstreams, such as valuation studies, tax equity modeling, and life cycle assessment studies
- Identify potential issues and propose solutions to leadership, as well as implement process improvement strategies
- Ensure accurate and timely delivery of engagement deliverables, such as presentations, credit calculations, tax forms, and IRS audit responses
- Monitor legislative and regulatory tax developments and present potential opportunities to assist clients
- Provide support with internal initiatives and special tax-related projects

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, law, business administration, economics, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in a related field
- Ability to travel up to 25%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
- Strong analytical and research skills, as well as effective verbal and written communication skills
- Proven leadership skills, including strong judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Ability to collaborate and develop internal and external working relationships
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- One of the following active accreditations obtained, in process, or willing and able to obtain: CPA, licensed attorney, Enrolled Agent, CFA, or CFP
- Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax, JD, and/or LLM (preferred)
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Experience working in a virtual and/or global environment (preferred)
- Passion for leveraging technology and exploring new solutions
- Previous Big 4 or large CPA or law firm experience (preferred)
