The candidate will be accountable for calendar and filing deadlines dictate, a willingness to work late on weekdays, weekends, and holidays and also assist in completing the workload of colleagues may be required. Must have a . from an accredited law school and be licensed and in good standing to practice in the State of Hawaii. Experience in criminal law, incarceration, rehabilitation, government regulation, consumer protection, and Native Hawaiian issues are desired. Strong typing skills, extensive experience with Microsoft Word, and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and Westlaw are favorable. Some training to be provided, but familiarity with the state legislative process and procedures is helpful. Strong reading comprehension, analytical, research, and writing skills to draft legislative bills, resolutions, committee reports, research memos, or legal opinions. The ability to work quickly and efficiently, interpret and digest statutory language, multitask and manage several projects at one time, maintain confidentiality, communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively, and develop a working relationship with elected officials and their staff with an even temperament, all under the strict deadlines of the legislative session is required.
