Job Overview:

The Criminal Defense Attorney represents clients facing federal, state, and local criminal charges. They provide legal counsel, conduct legal research, manage court appearances, and develop case strategies to ensure the best possible outcome for clients.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on their legal rights and draw up legal documents related to their case
  • Attend pretrial hearings on behalf of clients and advise clients on optimal strategies
  • Manage court appearances and trials, draft motions, interview witnesses, and conduct legal research
  • Analyze probable case outcomes using knowledge of legal precedents
  • Manage the workload of cases efficiently and effectively
  • Provide legal analysis to determine potential case benefits for clients
  • Accrue additional evidence to support clients' cases or challenge prosecution charges
  • Prepare clients for depositions and gather information from witnesses and experts
  • Handle complex criminal cases at federal, state, and local levels
  • Collaborate with fellow associates, contributing to team strategies and support
  • Fluency in English and Spanish preferred
  • Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the California State Bar
  • Experience practicing criminal law
  • Proven track record of successfully defending clients in criminal cases
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure

Certifications:

  • Admission to the California State Bar

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research tools and software
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and concisely
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
