A law firm in Asheville is seeking a Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for defending claims against employers across various industries. They will work closely with one or more partners to represent clients' interests and manage a caseload.

 

Duties:

  • Handle a caseload involving claims against employers in diverse industries.
  • Manage deadlines efficiently to ensure timely resolution of cases.
  • Conduct depositions of parties, lay witnesses, medical providers, and experts.
  • Represent clients in mediation to negotiate settlements.
  • Draft briefs and motions to support legal arguments.
  • Prepare for and conduct hearings before an administrative commission.
  • Perform legal analysis on new and existing claims.
  • Investigate cases, reviewing and analyzing medical records.
  • Develop effective case strategies to achieve favorable outcomes.
  • Respond to discovery requests in a timely and comprehensive manner.

 

Requirements:

  • Currently licensed in the state of North Carolina.
  • Strong writing skills with experience in depositions and mediations preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong research, writing, and verbal communication skills.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Active license to practice law in the state of North Carolina.

 

Skills:

  • Proficient in legal analysis and case management.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong research and writing abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
