Job Overview: The Insurance Coverage/Bad Faith Defense Attorney will be responsible for managing complex insurance coverage and bad faith litigation cases. This role requires a high level of independence, strong communication skills, and expertise in legal writing and analysis.

Duties:

  • Independently manage cases through the litigation process, working both independently and as part of the case team.
  • Conduct thorough fact investigations to gather evidence and build a strong defense.
  • Handle document productions and assist with various discovery tasks.
  • Prepare witnesses for deposition, ensuring their readiness to provide effective testimony.
  • Take and defend depositions, representing the firm's clients during legal proceedings.
  • Prepare pleadings, briefs, and motions to advance case strategy.
  • Review and analyze insurance policies, contracts, and other legal documents.
  • Provide detailed insurance coverage opinions to clients.
  • Prepare for court hearings and attend them as necessary.
  • Contribute to trial preparation and attend trials when required.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance coverage/bad faith litigation defense.
  • Active licensure in both Missouri and Kansas.
  • Preferred licensure in Arkansas.
  • Ability to work independently on complex insurance coverage and bad faith litigation cases.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong skills in legal writing, contract analysis, and legal research.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active bar admission in Missouri and Kansas, with Arkansas licensure preferred.

Skills:

  • Legal research and analysis expertise.
  • Case management and litigation strategy proficiency.
  • Witness preparation and deposition skills.
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities.
