Job Title: Land Use Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm in Seattle, WA, seeks a highly experienced Land Use Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in handling various land use applications, negotiations with regulatory bodies, drafting legal documents, and representing clients in land use appeals.

Duties:

  • Manage all types of land use applications, including comprehensive plan amendments, rezones, conditional use permits, site plan review applications, subdivisions, short plats, shoreline permits, temporary use permits, and critical area permits.
  • Communicate and negotiate with planning staff and other regulatory personnel to facilitate project approvals.
  • Represent clients in land use appeals before local decision-makers, state boards, and courts.
  • Draft development agreements, covenants, easements, and boundary-line adjustments for public and private projects.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience practicing law, focusing on land use.
  • Strong understanding of land use regulations and processes.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with various stakeholders, including clients, government officials, and community members.
  • Member of the Washington State Bar Association or eligible for reciprocity.
  • Oregon State Bar and/or California State Bar license is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Washington State Bar Association.

Skills:

  • Legal research and writing.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
