A law firm seeks a General Liability Associate Attorney in Ridgeland, MS.

Job Overview:

The General Liability Associate Attorney will provide comprehensive legal support in civil litigation matters, focusing on insurance defense. They will handle file review, legal analysis, research, drafting, and representation of clients in court proceedings, arbitrations, and depositions.

Duties:

  • Conduct file review and legal analysis of claims and causes of action
  • Perform extensive legal research and draft substantial briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate briefs
  • Maintain an annual billable amount of 1950 hours
  • Regularly represent clients in court, arbitrations, and depositions
  • Draft and respond to discovery requests
  • Retain and collaborate with expert witnesses
  • Prepare for trials and attend as necessary
  • It may require some travel

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of civil litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense
  • Experience handling civil cases from inception to resolution
  • Proficient in taking and defending depositions, including 30(b)(6) and expert witnesses
  • Ability to draft and argue substantive motions, attend hearings and participate in negotiations and mediations
  • . degree from an ABA-approved law school
  • Admitted to practice in the state of MS; admission in other states a plus
