A law firm in Newport Beach is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to work with a corporate client and its claims department on personal injury defense matters across Southern and Northern California. The ideal candidate should be proficient in legal research and writing, have strong communication skills, and be comfortable with utilizing various software tools for remote work and collaboration.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on personal injury defense matters
  • Draft and review legal documents, including discovery requests/responses and motions
  • Assist in preparing cases for trial and attending court hearings
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop case strategies
  • Interview clients and witnesses to gather necessary information
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients
  • Review and analyze relevant litigation documents, such as contracts and medical records
  • Prepare reports to the client, including risk analysis and settlement recommendations
  • Prepare clients/witnesses for depositions and take/defend depositions
  • Stay updated with legal developments and changes in laws and regulations

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the State Bar Association in good standing
  • 5+ years of experience in civil litigation
  • Proficiency in legal research platforms like Westlaw and Lexis-Nexis
  • Strong legal research and writing skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school

 

Certifications:

Admission to the State Bar Association (active and in good standing)

 

Skills:
