The successful candidate will provide legal advice on environmental and safety requirements, monitor and advise on regulatory changes, and design safety mechanisms and technology tools. They will also support environmental and hazardous goods governance and serve as lead counsel in regulatory inquiries. The preferred location for this position is Arlington VA, but we are also open to candidates in New York NY and Seattle WA. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of legal experience, a Juris Doctor degree and membership in one state bar or equivalent, and experience in private practice or in-house at a technology company. They should also have knowledge of US and global environmental regulations and strong organizational and project management skills. Key responsibilities for this role include providing day-to-day advice to Amazon's Environmental Assurance and Protection, Dangerous Goods, Hazardous Storage, and Extended Producer Responsibility teams, monitoring and advising on regulatory changes, and providing legal advice on the design of safety mechanisms and technology tools. The successful candidate will also advise on internal processes and practices to support environmental and hazardous goods governance and serve as lead counsel in regulatory inquiries. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,200/year to $195,700/year, depending on market location and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
