Corporate Counsel, Environmental Compliance/Hazardous Goods Amazon is looking for an exceptional regulatory and compliance attorney with experience counseling clients on environmental and safety requirements to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with Amazon's compliance teams to support their store, devices, and operational businesses and to build new and audit existing processes. The successful applicant should have the following qualifications: - Legal degree and membership in good standing in at least one . state bar; - 5+ years of relevant legal experience as a practicing attorney with experience handling environmental compliance, regulatory, and litigation matters - Experience with US federal and state environmental regulations and regulators; - Experience with global environmental and technical regulations attaching to the manufacture, sale, distribution, use, and disposition of consumer products. - Strong organizational and project management skills; - A combination of law firm, in-house, or government experience; - Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional team; and - Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed. As Corporate Counsel, Environmental Compliance/Hazardous Goods, you will be responsible for the following: - Providing day-to-day advice to Amazon’s Environmental Assurance and Protection, Dangerous Goods, Hazardous Storage, and Extended Producer Responsibility teams on regulations governing our operations, facilities, and products; - Monitoring and advising compliance, business, and legal teams on upcoming regulatory changes and maintenance of existing compliance processes; - Providing mission critical legal advice on the design of safety mechanisms and technology tools developed and used by the environmental compliance, hazardous goods, and operations teams; - Advising on internal processes and practices to support environmental and hazardous goods governance requirements and expectations; and - Serving as lead counsel in the response and resolution of environmental and hazardous goods regulatory inquiries. The position is based in one of the following locations: - Arlington, VA, USA - New York, NY, USA - Seattle, WA, USA The base salary for this position ranges from $123,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
