Job Overview:
The Estate Planning Attorney will provide comprehensive legal counsel to clients in matters about estate planning, business law, and related areas. They will play a crucial role in drafting legal documents, advising clients, and ensuring the seamless execution of estate plans. This position requires a seasoned professional with a strong business law and estate planning background, capable of managing multiple client matters effectively.
Duties:
- Provide expert legal counsel to clients on estate planning matters, including consultation, plan design, and document drafting.
- Draft various business contracts, including client services, employment, and buy/sell agreements.
- As needed, assist clients with advanced estate planning documents, such as ILITs, CRUTs, and SNTs.
- Conduct consultations with clients to understand their individual needs and objectives.
- Supervise and review the work junior associates, paralegals, and legal assistants perform.
- Handle trust administration and probate matters when required.
- Stay updated on legal developments in estate planning, business law, and related areas.
- Collaborate with other legal professionals within the firm to ensure comprehensive client service.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all client interactions.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- An active Virginia law license is required; DC and/or MD licenses are a bonus.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in business law and/or estate planning.
- Prior experience working at a law firm in a similar role is necessary.
- Proficiency in drafting various legal documents and contracts.
- Strong knowledge of estate planning principles and practices.
