Job Overview:

The Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney will be responsible for handling all phases of complex commercial litigation, including fact investigation, legal research, drafting discovery, preparing pleadings, taking and defending depositions, participating in mediations, communicating with opposing counsel and clients, appearing in court for motions and pre-hearing proceedings, and trial experience.

Duties:

  • Handle all phases of complex commercial litigation.
  • Conduct fact investigations and legal research.
  • Draft discovery requests and responses, pleadings, and other legal documents.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Participate in mediation and settlement negotiations.
  • Communicate effectively with opposing counsel and clients.
  • Appear in court for motions and pre-hearing proceedings.
  • Trial experience.

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of experience in commercial litigation.
  • Prior law firm experience preferred.
  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school with an excellent academic record.
  • Admission to the Missouri Bar (Kansas Bar also preferred).
  • Ability to interface directly with attorneys and clients.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work independently and productively.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and organization skills.
  • Outstanding judgment.
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects.
  • Ability to develop and implement legal strategies.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Missouri Bar (Kansas Bar also preferred).
