This is a unique opportunity to work alongside several of Amazon’s compliance teams and help build new and audit existing processes that raise the bar for Amazon’s compliance with environmental and safety requirements. ## Key Job Responsibilities - Provide day-to-day advice to Amazon’s Environmental Assurance and Protection, Dangerous Goods, Hazardous Storage, and Extended Producer Responsibility teams on regulations governing our operations, facilities, and products; - Monitor and advise compliance, business, and legal teams on upcoming regulatory changes and maintenance of existing compliance processes; - Provide mission critical legal advice on the design of safety mechanisms and technology tools developed and used by the environmental compliance, hazardous goods, and operations teams; - Advise on internal processes and practices to support environmental and hazardous goods governance requirements and expectations; and - Serve as lead counsel in the response and resolution of environmental and hazardous goods regulatory inquiries. ## Preferred Locations Applicants for this position can work out of one of the following locations: - Arlington, VA, USA - New York, NY, USA - Seattle, WA, USA ## Basic Qualifications - Legal degree and membership in good standing in at least one . state bar; - 5+ years of relevant legal experience as a practicing attorney with experience handling environmental compliance, regulatory, and litigation matters ## Preferred Qualifications - Experience with US federal and state environmental regulations and regulators; and - Experience with global environmental and technical regulations attaching to the manufacture, sale, distribution, use, and disposition of consumer products. - Strong organizational and project management skills; - A combination of law firm, in-house, or government experience; - Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional team; and - Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed. ## Salary Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $123,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
