## Job Summary

Isuzu North America Corporation (INAC) is looking for a Chief Counsel - Business Legal to direct their business legal function in the United States. The successful candidate must possess a Juris Doctor degree, be licensed to practice law in the State of California, and have at least ten years corporate and commercial transactional practical experience, including one or more years in a corporate legal environment.

## Principal Duties & Responsibilities

The Chief Counsel - Business Legal will:

- Negotiate and draft a wide variety of contracts and contract templates to protect company business interests in alignment with legal and industry standards.
- Expertly advise company employees on a wide variety of issues, providing sound legal solutions that align with company business interests.
- Develop and implement legal processes and strategies to support company business objectives while mitigating legal risks and potential liabilities.
- Stay abreast of changes in laws and regulations and ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate governance requirements; develop and implement compliance programs as necessary.
- Provide leadership and guidance, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

## Organizational Relationships

The Chief Counsel - Business Legal will report to the Vice President, General Counsel and have direct reports of Counsel and Legal & Administrative Specialist.

## Education, Experience & Training

The successful candidate must possess a Juris Doctor degree, be licensed to practice law in the State of California, and have at least ten years corporate and commercial transactional practical experience, including one or more years in a corporate legal environment.

## Knowledge

The Chief Counsel - Business Legal should have knowledge of law firm corporate/commercial practice and billing standards.

## Skills & Abilities

The successful candidate should have:

- Strong PC skills in Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Budget development and analysis ability
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with all levels of the organization

## Physical Standards

The Chief Counsel - Business Legal must be able to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer. This is primarily a sedentary position in a controlled office environment which requires only occasional reaching, stooping, and lifting of office files, reports, or records, typically weighing 5 lbs. or less. Position requires occasional domestic travel, including overnight stays.

## Management Accountabilities

The Chief Counsel - Business Legal will be responsible for:

- Determining organizational objectives, interpreting company policy, and delegating assignments to subordinates
- Establishing organizational policies in a major segment of the company
- Generally accomplishing results through middle manager levels
- Managing a major segment of the company
- Representing the organizational unit as prime internal and customer contact on contracts or operations

## Salary

The pay scale for this position is between $179,645 to $238,030. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
