A law firm is seeking a Trial Attorney for their Concord, CA office.

Job Overview:

The Trial Attorney will be responsible for litigating unlawful detainer actions in California state courts on behalf of property owners and managers. They will provide legal advice, prepare trial materials and witnesses, respond to client inquiries, and ensure all pre-trial motions and discovery documents are prepared. Additionally, the attorney will assist with other landlord-tenant matters and must be willing to spend multiple days per week in court.

Duties:

  • Litigate unlawful detainer actions, including trial preparation and witness coordination
  • Provide legal advice through phone consultations, analyzing facts and issues for client counseling
  • Respond to client questions and concerns to foster client retention and business growth
  • Collaborate with legal staff to prepare pre-trial motions, pleadings, and discovery documents
  • Draft various documents such as letters, stipulations, and surrender agreements as per client requirements
  • Propound and respond to discovery, depositions, and motions; prepare trial briefs
  • Assist with other landlord-tenant matters and provide consultations as needed

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree and active California Bar license
  • Minimum of 1 year of trial experience
  • Strong oral advocacy skills
  • Knowledge of trial procedure and evidence code
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Willingness to spend multiple days per week in court
  • Familiarity with unlawful detainer law
  • Jury trial experience preferred
  • Experience or contact within the rental housing industry is a plus

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree
  • Active California Bar license
