Job Overview: A law firm in Denver, CO, seeks a highly motivated and skilled Patent Agent to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a background in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Optics, Biomedical Engineering with an electrical emphasis, or Physics. The role requires at least 2 years of prosecution experience at a firm or in-house, with a strong preference for individuals experienced in writing patent applications or office actions.

Duties:

  • Conduct patent analysis and opinions of counsel.
  • Engage in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications.
  • Collaborate with internal and external clients, attorneys, and staff to provide effective patent-related services.
  • Participate in inter partes reviews (IPRs) as needed.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and legal developments relevant to patent law.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 2 years of prosecution experience at a firm or in-house (for associate applicants).
  • Experience writing patent applications or office actions (for engineer or agent applicants).
  • A Computer Science and/or software background is strongly preferred.
  • Graduate-level experience or an advanced technical degree is a plus.
  • Hold a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Optics, Biomedical Engineering with an electrical emphasis, or Physics.
  • Involvement with patent analysis/opinions of counsel and IPRs is a plus.
  • Admission to the USPTO is a plus.

Education:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Graduate-level experience or an advanced technical degree is a plus.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the USPTO is a plus.
