A law firm in San Diego is seeking a Biotech Intellectual Property Patent Agent/Technical Specialist with 0-5 years of experience. The successful candidate will hold an advanced degree (.) in biochemistry, immunology, molecular biology, or microbiology from an accredited institution. The candidate should have experience practicing before the USPTO commensurate with their years in practice and an additional appreciation for organic chemistry and bioinformatics. The candidate must be admitted or have the ability to become admitted to practice before the USPTO as a registered . Patent Agent.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct patent searches and analysis of prior art
  • Assist in drafting and prosecuting patent applications before the USPTO
  • Collaborate with attorneys and clients to understand the technical aspects of inventions
  • Provide support in patent portfolio management
  • Stay informed about developments in biotechnology and intellectual property law
  • Conduct due diligence in support of business transactions
  • Assist in the preparation of legal opinions on patentability and freedom to operate

 

Requirements:

  • 0-5 years of relevant experience in biotech intellectual property
  • Advanced degree (.) in biochemistry, immunology, molecular biology, or microbiology
  • Experience practicing before the USPTO commensurate with years of practice
  • Admission (or ability to become admitted) to practice before the USPTO as a registered . Patent Agent
  • Additional appreciation of organic chemistry and bioinformatics is desired
