Job Overview: The Special Education Associate Attorney will assist clients in navigating the individualized education program (IEP) process, conduct workshops, review and revise policies and procedures related to special education, and respond to state and federal compliance complaints and administrative due process hearings. This role requires excellent research, writing, and analytical skills, along with active membership in the State Bar of California.

Duties:

  • Provide legal guidance and advocacy to clients in special education matters, including IEP meetings and dispute resolution.
  • Review, analyze, and revise school district policies and procedures related to special education to ensure compliance with federal and state laws.
  • Conduct workshops and training sessions to educate clients and professionals on special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop effective strategies for resolving disputes and complaints related to special education services.
  • Represent clients in administrative due process hearings, advocating for the rights of children with disabilities.
  • Stay informed about changes in special education law and regulations to provide up-to-date advice to clients.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Membership in good standing with the State Bar of California.
  • 2+ years of experience practicing special education law.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and California special education laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the State Bar of California.
