Description:

Liberty Mutual is a leading insurance company committed to providing exceptional legal services to customers worldwide. We are currently seeking a Workers' Compensation Attorney based in California for a primarily remote role, with occasional required appearances.

In this role, you will represent Liberty Mutual and our policyholders in moderately complex civil litigation and workers’ compensation cases involving claims for monetary damages or compensation for personal injuries or property damage.

- Engaged legal professional: You will manage the entire legal process, from investigation and discovery to trial preparation and court proceedings. This includes representing clients in depositions, site inspections, court hearings, trials, and negotiating settlements.
- Strategic partner: You will research applicable laws and findings to develop appropriate legal strategies for all stages of litigation, sharing them with claims representatives and insured clients.
- People person: You will establish and maintain positive relationships with claims representatives and insured clients, and may also conduct training sessions for Legal, Claims, or other departments.
- Effective communicator: You will develop and communicate clear, unambiguous legal opinions and strategies, as well as draft legal documents such as pleadings and motions.

Qualifications:

- Membership in the California Bar
- Appropriate special licenses to practice before boards or federal courts preferred
- Minimum of one year of experience as an attorney
- Talent for building strong working relationships
- Aptitude for detailed, analytical thinking
- Process-oriented mindset with excellent time management skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Familiarity with insurance law a plus
- Proficiency with technology for remote work

Education:

- Juris Doctor degree
