A law firm is seeking a motivated and skilled Associate Attorney to join its team in Salt Lake City, UT. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of General Insurance Defense experience, with a focus on civil litigation. The Associate Attorney will be responsible for handling a diverse caseload involving medical malpractice, general liability, products and premises liability, financial institutions, professional liability, and business litigation.

Job Details:

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a substantial caseload encompassing civil litigation and insurance defense litigation.
  • Draft, prepare, and handle pleadings, motions, orders, and legal memoranda.
  • Conduct legal research competently and proficiently.
  • Prepare and take depositions of parties and experts.
  • Review client documents, draft case evaluations, and status report correspondence.
  • Assist with and participate in trial preparation, mediation, and court appearances.
  • Interact directly with clients, claim professionals, opposing counsel, colleagues, and staff.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of General Insurance Defense experience with a willingness to learn.
  • Must be licensed to practice in Utah state and federal district courts.
  • Additional admissions to surrounding states are preferred.

Skills:

  • Proactive work style, capable of working independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with superb organization and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to seamlessly transition from case to case.
  • Knowledge of both state and federal court procedures.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet navigation.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Utah State Bar.
