A law firm in Los Angeles, CA, seeks a Mid-level Environmental Associate Attorney to play a pivotal role in handling pre-litigation investigations, environmental litigation matters, compliance issues, and regulatory representation. The successful candidate will collaborate with transactional attorneys, offer environmental counsel, and excel in complex litigation scenarios.

Duties:

  • Engage in pre-litigation investigation of facts and law related to environmental matters.
  • File, prosecute, and/or defend environmental litigation matters, focusing on CERCLA cost recovery, environmental insurance recovery, CEQA, and climate change liability.
  • Conduct research, write, and analyze challenging and complex issues under environmental, contractual, tort, constitutional, real estate, and corporate law.
  • Advise clients on environmental compliance with federal, state, and local environmental statutes, regulations, and policies.
  • Represent clients before regulatory and enforcement agencies, including USEPA, RWQCBs, AQMD, DTSC, and CUPAs.
  • Collaborate with transactional attorneys to provide environmental counsel on due diligence, risk management, and transfer in various deal structures.
  • Represent clients in complex environmental litigation and provide counsel in pre-litigation, compliance, administrative enforcement, and real estate/diligence matters.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the California Bar.
  • Mid-level experience in environmental law practice.

Certifications:

  • California Bar membership.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge and at least some work experience with statutes, regulations, and common law related to soil and groundwater contamination, water quality, air quality, and/or climate change.
  • Exceptional research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong desire to meet intellectual challenges and passion to excel on behalf of clients.
