A law firm in Salt Lake City, UT, is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney to manage a diverse caseload of litigation matters related to commercial disputes, bankruptcy, cooperatives & condominiums, foreclosures, and construction. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling all aspects of litigation, from initial case evaluations to trial preparation and settlement conferences.

Duties:

  • Manage a diverse caseload of litigation matters related to commercial disputes, bankruptcy, cooperatives & condominiums, foreclosures, and construction.
  • Assist with initial case evaluations and develop case strategies.
  • Handle and assist with communications with clients, opposing parties, and affiliated parties.
  • Manage case schedules and coordinate all aspects of litigation.
  • Prepare and respond to discovery requests and oversee e-discovery processes.
  • Defend and take depositions as needed.
  • Manage motion practice at all stages of a proceeding.
  • Represent clients in federal and state court hearings and arbitrations.
  • Handle settlement conferences and mediations, including preparing position statements and settlement offers.
  • Prepare for and/or handle arbitrations and trials or aspects of them.
  • Draft pleadings and motions.
  • Run the day-to-day operations of litigation matters.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of litigation experience, including State and/or Federal courtroom experience, hearings, and taking/defending depositions.
  • Outstanding academic credentials.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Must be a licensed attorney in the State of Utah.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and case evaluation skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Proficiency in legal research, writing, and drafting pleadings and motions.
  • Thorough knowledge of litigation procedures and case management.
  • Ability to handle settlement conferences and mediations effectively.
  • Experience with e-discovery and electronic case management systems.
