A law firm located in Alexandria is actively seeking a Patent Attorney to contribute to its efficient and strategic patent prosecution, build relationships with USPTO examiners, manage patent portfolios, foster connections with in-house counsel, and align intellectual property strategies with client business objectives. Duties:

  • Efficient and strategic patent prosecution.
  • Building relationships with USPTO examiners.
  • Patent portfolio development and management.
  • Building relationships with in-house counsel.
  • Understanding and aligning intellectual property strategies with client business objectives.
  • Client management and development.

 

Technical Background:

Preferably holds a degree in electrical engineering, computer science, and/or physics.

 

Education:

  • JD from an ABA-approved law school.
  • An active member of the Bar of the state in which the candidate is admitted to practice.

 

Experience:

3+ years of experience in the preparation and/or prosecution of patent applications.

 

Requirements:

  • Strong technical background, preferably in electrical engineering, computer science, and/or physics.
  • Proven experience in patent prosecution.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to understand and align intellectual property strategies with client business objectives.
