Oakland office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks a junior criminal defense associate attorney with 1-5 years of experience in a private criminal defense setting or a Public Defender's office. The candidate will prepare for hearings in advance, research potential issues, guide the clients clearly, and provide strategic advice. Advocate for and secure the best possible outcome for clients. Be familiar with and apply post-conviction remedies. Stay up to date on changes in the law. Properly advise clients on the direct and collateral consequences of their cases. Draft and submit motions and other filings on time - meeting internal and external deadlines. Arrive at work and court on time in professional and appropriate attire. Maintain a good rapport with clients and treat them with respect. Participate in ongoing training as required by the firm. Participate in networking and community events as required by the firm. Accurately and concurrently bill time. Misdemeanor experience is required. Those with jury trials, preliminary hearings, and felony experience are preferred. Those with at least 1 year of exposure to criminal law and restraining order concepts will be considered. Must be in good standing with the State Bar of CA. Those with second language skills are encouraged to apply.
