Job Overview: The Patent Agent will work closely with clients, attorneys, and industry partners to procure patent protection for innovative technologies and build robust intellectual property portfolios. The role involves drafting, filing, and prosecuting patent applications, as well as providing support for various patent-related tasks such as due diligence, freedom-to-operate analysis, and patent litigation.

Job Duties:

  • Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications on behalf of clients
  • Provide support for due diligence, landscape analysis, freedom-to-operate analysis, and validity assessment
  • Support patent litigation efforts
  • Draft responses to patent application rejections from the United States Patent and Trademark Office and other worldwide Patent Offices
  • Interact professionally with internal and external clients on all levels
  • Work collaboratively as part of a global professional team
  • Establish and maintain internal practices, procedures, and technology for patent-related information coordination and streamlining
  • Demonstrate advanced writing skills and research abilities to communicate ideas to clients effectively
  • Communicate with lawyers, firm management, staff, and clients verbally and through written correspondence
  • Manage multiple tasks and projects, meeting deadlines with proven project management and organizational skills
  • Work well under pressure, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and assignments
  • Think creatively, exercise good judgment, and make sound decisions

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences, Engineering, or related field
  • 2 years of experience in patent prosecution is preferred, but all well-qualified candidates will be considered
  • Registration with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
