Position Summary:

The Lead Counsel - Complex Commercial Litigation role at Walmart is responsible for managing a docket of commercial litigation cases for the world's largest retailer. This role involves advising business and legal leadership on legal rights, obligations, and risks, as well as developing risk mitigation strategies. The Lead Counsel will collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide legal advice and counsel, manage outside counsel, and oversee legal spend.

What You'll Do:

- Create legal strategies for the company's commercial litigation matters
- Develop best practices and procedures to mitigate corporate risk
- Manage outside counsel on commercial litigation cases
- Maintain budget compliance by managing legal fees and litigation costs
- Provide legal advice and counsel to internal stakeholders
- Identify the need for legal support in business transactions and projects
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders

What You'll Need:

- Subject matter expertise in complex commercial and class action litigation
- Stay abreast of changes in the legal landscape and contribute to discussions about the law's evolution
- First chair trial experience or experience drafting and arguing significant dispositive motions
- Driven to execute and act quickly
- Process-minded and look for opportunities to streamline for improved efficiency and effectiveness
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Experience working within cross-functional teams
