# Contract Attorney

The Alaska Public Defender Agency (Agency) is seeking contract attorneys to provide legal representation to indigent individuals in criminal cases across the state of Alaska. Contract attorneys will be compensated on either a flat fee or hourly basis, and the Agency will cover some case-related expenses and services.

## Qualifications

In order to be considered for this position, applicants must possess:

* Trial experience
* Outstanding writing and analytical skills
* Ability to work independently to research and compose legal briefs
* Strong oral advocacy skills
* Admission to the Alaska bar
* Active State of Alaska business license
* Professional liability insurance

## Responsibilities

Contract attorneys are expected to handle cases to completion at the trial court level.

## Compensation

Contract attorneys will be compensated on either a flat fee or hourly basis. The Agency will cover some case-related expenses and services.
