Staff Counsel II, Workers Compensation California AmTrust North America is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Counsel II for their Workers Compensation team in California. This position offers a competitive compensation package and excellent opportunities for career advancement. Responsibilities: - Competently represent AmTrust North America and its carriers in all assigned cases, including preparation of pleadings, motions, discovery, trial, arbitration, and appeals. - Manage a caseload involved in full-phase litigation, utilizing aggressive, cost-efficient, and creative strategies. - Travel to different boards in Southern California and various AmTrust offices. - Interface with claims administrators, underwriters, employers, safety personnel, and all legal representatives up to the highest ranks at the WCAB level. - Maintain regular communication with the Claims Department via roundtables, reviews, and training. - Maintain a solid understanding of AmTrust’s mission, vision, and values as a leader in the workers’ compensation industry. Requirements: - Licensed by the California State Bar. - Strong technical knowledge and familiarity with California Labor Code and Rules of Practice and Procedure, as well as current case law. - Ability to handle up to 95 cases from inception to settlement and/or appellate level. - 3+ years of recent and relevant experience in Workers’ Compensation. - Trial and/or arbitration experience up to submission. - Appellate experience. - Ability to travel to various WCAB district offices in California and other locations, including periodic travel to AmTrust offices in San Diego, Irvine, Concord, and Las Vegas. Preferred qualifications: - Specialization in California Workers’ Compensation Law. - Experience in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). - Strong working knowledge of TeamConnect, TimeMatters. Salary Information: - This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California. - The level II Staff Counsel salary is between $110K - $160K, with potential for modification in the future. - Base pay may vary depending on education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, and sales or revenue-based metrics.
