Mercy has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Counsel to join our team in Chesterfield, Missouri.


The Associate Counsel provides legal counsel and advice in the areas of Healthcare Regulations and Compliance, and/or Transactions and Acquisitions, and other functional areas of law including employment law, hospital and clinic operations, medical staff and accreditation, managed care contracting, real estate and construction, and health care reform and reimbursement.


The Associate Counsel will provide complex legal analysis and recommendations for subject matter strategies and approaches directly to clients and to more senior counsel within the legal department. The clients of the Associate Counsel will generally be those business or operations personnel in the areas for which subject matter expertise is being provided.


The Associate Counsel must have a and be a member of the state of practice Bar or eligible for immediate admission. The Associate Counsel must also have five (5) or more years' experience as a practicing attorney with specialized experience in transactions, mergers, and acquisitions. Excellent oral and written communication skills are also required.

## Associate Counsel

Mercy is looking for an experienced Associate Counsel to provide legal counsel and advice in the areas of Healthcare Regulations and Compliance, and/or Transactions and Acquisitions, and other functional areas of law including employment law, hospital and clinic operations, medical staff and accreditation, managed care contracting, real estate and construction, and health care reform and reimbursement.

### Job Responsibilities

* Provide complex legal analysis and recommendations for subject matter strategies and approaches directly to clients and to more senior counsel within the legal department.
* Provide legal counsel on regulatory issues and development of possible alternative to achieve desired strategic and business objectives.
* Provide legal advice to Mercy and its affiliates on operational issues including compliance with federal and state laws/regulations, medical staff issues and other.
* Anticipate and guards against legal risk.
* Stays abreast of current developments in legal and regulatory developments and determines impact on Mercy entities and services.
* Supervise and manage outside counsel, junior attorneys and law clerks.
* Work collaboratively with in-house legal counsel for other Mercy communities, in-house counsel with ministry-wide responsibilities, and the Compliance and/or Transactions Departments.
* Support Mercy inter-disciplinary initiatives and serve on or lead various task forces as needed or as assigned.

### Qualifications

*
* Membership in the state of practice Bar or eligibility for immediate admission
* Five (5) or more years' experience as a practicing attorney with specialized experience in transactions, mergers, and acquisitions
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups
* Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
