KCI Technologies, Inc., a 100% employee-owned engineering, consulting, and construction firm, is seeking an experienced litigator with a background in the Architectural, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry to join our team as the Associate General Counsel for Litigation and Employment Law. This role offers the opportunity to take on a diverse array of legal responsibilities and work closely with staff at all levels of the company.

The successful candidate will report to the General Counsel and collaborate with internal business leaders to develop and implement strategies, as well as engage with outside counsel to mitigate risk to KCI. This individual will also be responsible for managing, resolving, and avoiding disputes, advising on employment matters, and drafting and negotiating contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage, resolve, and avoid disputes, claims, and litigation related to professional liability, auto accidents, workers’ compensation, and general liability.
Advise and assist with client non-payment and subconsultant defaults.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deescalate project disputes.
Initiate initiatives to prevent litigation and provide risk mitigation training to staff.
Manage internal procedures and processes related to third-party subpoenas, document discovery, and reviewing draft pleadings.
Respond to requests for information from regulatory and government agencies.
Advise on employment law matters and investigate allegations of legal wrongdoing.
Provide guidance on changes to employment laws for a multi-state employer.
Review and negotiate contracts with internal stakeholders and third parties.
Assist with drafting, updating, and maintaining contract templates.
Qualifications:

Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school.
Member in good standing with any . state bar.
Minimum of seven years of relevant legal experience, preferably with litigation and/or employment law experience in a law firm or in-house.
Experience in the AEC industry, including knowledge of potential risks and mitigation strategies.
Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously and shift focus as needed while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
Proficiency with computer and software systems.
Pre-employment drug screening and background checks may be required.
Performance Expectations:

Comply with all KCI policies and procedures.
Operate within specified budget parameters.
Meet periodically with legal counsel.
Report directly to the General Counsel.
Visit KCI's tier one offices regularly.
Attend semi-annual managers meeting.
