A law firm in Kennebunk, ME is actively seeking a skilled Mid-level Family Litigation Attorney with a proven track record of handling divorce cases, conducting hearings on complex financial matters, and demonstrating expertise in family law proceedings. The successful candidate will be responsible for taking divorce cases to final contested hearings, working with expert witnesses, conducting depositions, and handling various aspects of family litigation.

 

Duties:

  • Handle divorce cases and lead them to final contested hearings, especially when the opposing party is represented by counsel.
  • Work with expert witnesses and conduct hearings on financial misconduct, complex business, and personal financial asset distribution, and issues related to spousal support.
  • Conduct depositions to gather information and evidence for litigation.
  • Conduct emergency interim hearings on spousal support and/or child support issues.
  • Manage and represent clients in final contested protection from abuse hearings where the opposing party is represented by counsel.
  • Draft and conduct financial discovery independently, including appropriate interrogatories, requests for production of documents, requests for admissions, etc.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in the state of Maine.
  • Proven experience in family law and family litigation, with a focus on divorce cases.
  • Demonstrated success in taking divorce cases to final contested hearings.
  • Experience conducting depositions and managing complex financial aspects of family law cases.

 

Skills:

  • Strong litigation and courtroom advocacy skills.
  • Excellent legal research and writing abilities.
  • Familiarity with financial discovery processes and documentation.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and thoroughness.
