A law firm is seeking a Patent Agent to join their team in St. Louis. The Patent Agent will play a vital role in supporting patent attorneys with the preparation and prosecution of patent applications. This position involves working closely with inventors, identifying patentable inventions, researching current patented technologies, and drafting patent applications. The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering, with a preference for degrees in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science. USPTO registration is required, and the candidate should have 1 year of professional experience, preferably with 2+ years of experience.

 

Duties:

  • Assist patent attorneys in preparing and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Collaborate with inventors on newly created products.
  • Identify patentable inventions through research and analysis.
  • Draft patent applications with the guidance of the patent team.
  • Track the patent application process from initial filing to granted patent.
  • Conduct ability searches regularly.
  • Respond to office actions and correspond with the . Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Solve client challenges and meet billable hour requirements.
  • Provide suggestions and prioritize tasks to address day-to-day issues.
  • Share information and keep the team informed about progress and challenges.
  • Give positive and constructive feedback to peers and train new employees.
  • Attend required training and adapt willingly to planned changes.
  • Work as a team member and understand the goals of the team.
  • Demonstrate awareness of the firm's values and Diversity and Inclusion values.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering.
