The position of Executive Director Senior Counsel-Compliance is a key leadership role within Mercy, a healthcare organization dedicated to providing compassionate care and exceptional service. This position is responsible for advising and representing the ministry in specialized legal matters related to business operations and compliance with federal and state healthcare laws. The role requires a deep understanding of the complex regulatory landscape of the healthcare industry and the ability to develop compliance strategies while supporting the overall mission of the ministry. The Executive Director Senior Counsel-Compliance will provide legal advice and critical guidance on a variety of issues, including Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, Medicare policies, and fraud and abuse issues. They will also oversee selected outside counsel or consultants, as well as legal externs, staff attorneys, and assistant counsel. This leadership position will work closely with business and operations personnel and senior-level committees and task forces within the community and across the ministry. To be considered for this position, candidates must have a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree and at least five to six years of experience as a practicing attorney with corporate, transactional, and regulatory law experience. They must also be a member of the State Bar in the applicable state of practice. The successful candidate will possess excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups. Some travel, up to 20% of the time, may be required.
