Job Overview: The Facilities Associate Attorney will primarily focus on legal matters related to public agency procurement and contracting, public works, real property transactions, general agency law, and pre-litigation dispute resolution. The role requires excellent research and writing skills, managing contract preparation and negotiation, effective client communication, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on public agency procurement and contracting, public works, real property transactions, and general agency law.
  • Prepare and revise contracts ensuring legal compliance, risk management, and reasonableness.
  • Assist in bid protests, prompt payment issues, stop payment notices, false claims, suretyship, and prevailing wage law matters.
  • Evaluate and resolve pre-litigation disputes, including adherence to government claims procedures.
  • Provide counsel on compliance with the Ralph M. Brown Act, the Public Records Act, and conflict of interest law.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop legal strategies and courses of action.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in public agency procurement and contracting, public works, real property transactions, and general agency law.
  • Strong understanding of bidding processes and requests for proposals.
  • Proficiency in legal research methodologies and writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and through various forms of telecommunication with clients.
  • Self-starter with the capacity to take ownership of legal matters and follow through under supervision.
  • Awareness of personal strengths and limitations with a desire for professional training and mentorship.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the California State Bar.
