A law firm based in Charlotte is seeking an experienced Taxation Attorney with a strong background in mitigating tax burdens across various areas including mergers & acquisitions, real estate transactions, business tax planning, nonprofit tax planning, employee benefits, business succession, wealth transfer, and charitable planning. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience representing clients in tax controversies before IRS Administrative Appeals, the . Tax Court, and Federal District Courts. The candidate must hold an LLM degree.

 

Duties:

  • Provide legal advice and counsel on tax matters related to mergers & acquisitions, real estate transactions, and business planning.
  • Develop and implement strategies to minimize tax liabilities for clients.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Represent clients in tax controversies before IRS Administrative Appeals, the . Tax Court, and Federal District Courts.
  • Draft legal documents including agreements, contracts, and tax opinions.
  • Advise clients on tax implications of business decisions and transactions.

 

Requirements:

  • LLM degree from an accredited law school.
  • 6+ years of prior law firm experience, with a focus on tax law.
  • Proven track record in mitigating tax burdens for clients across various industries.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local taxation laws and regulations.
  • Experience representing clients in tax controversies before regulatory bodies and courts.
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.

 

Education:

LLM degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the State Bar.
