Summary: The General Counsel will serve as the primary legal advisor to Equip, a virtual, evidence-based eating disorder treatment program. This remote position offers competitive compensation and benefits, including yearly bonuses and flexible PTO. The ideal candidate will have a JD degree, 7-10 years of legal experience, and a strong background in technology and healthcare. They will be responsible for developing and implementing the company's legal strategy, managing corporate governance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and overseeing litigation and risk management. This position requires excellent communication and leadership skills, as well as the ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Key Responsibilities: - Develop and implement the company's legal strategy to support business objectives and growth. - Provide expert legal advice and counsel to senior leadership on a broad range of legal issues. - Manage corporate governance matters and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. - Develop and maintain compliance programs to ensure adherence to applicable regulations and standards. - Oversee the company's intellectual property portfolio and advise on protection strategies. - Identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams and executive team members to provide legal insights and support for various business initiatives. - Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements. - Manage and lead legal and risk and compliance teams. Qualifications: - Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the state bar association. - 7-10 years of legal experience, with a combination of law firm and in-house experience preferred. - Strong background in technology, healthcare, and intellectual property. - Experience with insurance qualifications and managing insurance-related legal matters. - Proven experience managing and leading legal and risk and compliance teams. - Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to evolving business needs. - Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities. - Preferred experience in litigation and mediation. - Preferred experience in payor contracts. Location: This is a remote work position, with travel required 4-8 times a year for executive, Board, and team meetings.
